Niguarda is dedicated to guaranteeing maximum protection for the patient’s personal data informativa in compliance with the law Legge n. 196/03 regarding the privacy of visitors to its official website and to clearly state, in the page where personal data are requested,the right to privacy.

PRIVACY ON THE WEB
Information (Art. 13 of the D.legs. 196/2003 “Regulations regarding protection of personal data”)

AREA OF REFERENCE
This information regards the treatment of personal data by the Hospital System Niguarda Ca’ Granda through its main web-site www.ospedaleniguarda.it and other sites connected to the Web Network Niguarda.
Our goal is to respect the current regulations regarding the treatment of personal data (D.L.vo 196/2003) including the obligation to protect personal information provided to us during on- line consultation or the use of services. This commitment is part of the larger protection system for data treated by the computer systems, regulated on the level of the entire hospital system.
These regulations do not apply to the treatment by third parties via web-sites connected by links to the web-sites of our network.
The Hospital System of Niguarda Ca’ Granda declines every responsibility or obligation concerning the contents of these external sites.

DATA COLLECTION- GOAL AND METHOD OF TREATMENT- MANDATORY OR ELECTIVE NATURE OF THE GRANTING OF DATA- CONSEQUENCES FOR EVENTUAL REFUSAL TO RESPOND
Entering our web -sites does not involve the use of personal data, since it is done anonymously, except in the following situations:

• Subscribing to a web-letter or other services on-line that are informative in nature (for example communication with the Office of Public Relations).
The subscription to these services requires the collection of personal information such as name, surname, address, e-mail or telephone number. This information is used exclusively to provide the requested service and, if necessary, to control that the request is correct. (For example, to prevent theft of identity).
Providing such information is optional, however refusal to respond may make it impossible to have access to the requested service. All provided data are treated electronically by the computer system of the Hospital System of Niguarda Ca’ Granda.

• Spontaneous communication to e-mail addresses indicated on our web-sites.
The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of an e-mail message to addresses indicated on our web-site involves the automatic acquisition of the address of the sender, as well as any other personal data included in the message which is necessary to be able to provide the requested service.
Cookies
To in prove the quality and accessibility of the site, “cookies” are used. These are electronic markers that the server sends to the computer of the host in order to
- keep a record of the images loaded and unloaded by the user;
- register the users in the programs
- memorize the accesses of the users to the the areas of the site that request subscription
- memorize language preference and country.

No personal data of the users becomes property of the site.

Cookies are not used for the transmission of information of a personal nature, nor are persistent cookies of any kind used as a user tracing system.
The use of so-called cookie sessions (which are not memorized in a persistent way in the computer of the user and disappear with the closure of the browser) is strictly limited to the transmission of the identification code of the session (consisting in random numbers generated by the server), which is necessary for efficient and secure address exploration.

Deactivation of cookies: every visitor can choose to deactivate this function, however this operation limits the quality and the functioning of the web-site of Niguarda and of its WebNetwork.
The information collected implicitly in the system of navigation could, by its very nature, through elaboration and associations with data retained by third parties, allow for the identification of the users. However, they are not collected for the purpose of identification but are only used to collect anonymous statistic information regarding the use of the site and to control for correct functioning, and are cancelled immediately after the elaboration.

SUBJECTS OR CATEGORIES OF SUBJECTS WHOSE PERSONAL DATA MAY BE COMMUNICATED OR MAY BE KNOWN.
Except when required by law, no personal data collected by the web sites of the Hospital System Niguarda Ca’ Granda is communicated to third parties or defused. Collected data are exclusively handled by personnel of the Hospital System of Niguarda Ca’ Granda who are responsible for the treatment of data.
Web-site technicians who are given the responsibility for the handling of such data have access to this information, only for technical procedures for the functioning of the web-site.

HOW ARE VISITORS’ INFORMATION PROTECTED
In order to guarantee the security of the personal information that is gathered, various safety measures are used. Personal information is contained in nets which are safe and accessible to a limited number of people who have the specific right to such systems and the obligation of reservation. Access to personal data occurs with a protected server. The employees of Niguarda are trained to understand and respect such controls and are instructed on the procedures, guidelines and rights to privacy. However, the users must also follow specific procedures to protect their information. We therefore invite users to take all possible precautions to protect their personal information when navigating on internet.

RIGHTS OF THE INTERESTED PARTIES
Subjects who refer their personal data have the right at any time to confirm the existence of their personal data and to know the contents and origin, verify if the data is correct, and update, complete or correct the data (art. 7 of the d.lgs. n. 196/2003).
By the same article, one has the right to ask for the cancellation, transformation in anonymous form or block data used illegally, as well as oppose, for valid reasons, the handling of such data.

The Hospital System Niguarda Ca’ Granda, located in Milan, Piazza Ospedale Maggiore, 3 is legally responsible for the handling of personal data.

The delegated authority is the General Director, Pasquale Cannatelli.

The Medical Director, Carlo Nicora, is reponsible for data handled on the web.
